The Project

Project Overview

Story material is revealed as the project progresses through its Evaluation journey.

A late-night radio host is used to strange callers, lonely confessions, and voices drifting through the darkness. But one night, the calls become impossible.
Each caller describes a terrifying final moment — only for the host to discover that they died earlier that same evening.
As the broadcast continues, the calls grow more personal, the studio feels less empty, and the host begins to suspect the dead are not calling simply to tell their stories. They are trying to warn him about what is coming before the night is over.

Every night, radio host Jack Mercer sits alone in a small studio and talks to strangers who cannot sleep.

His late-night call-in show is built on confessions, ghost stories, conspiracy theories, broken hearts, and the strange intimacy that only exists between two people speaking in the dark.

Then a caller named Emily phones the station and calmly describes being trapped inside a wrecked car.

Jack tries to keep her talking while his producer contacts emergency services.

Minutes later, they discover Emily died in the crash hours earlier.

Before they can make sense of it, another call comes in.

Then another.

Each caller describes the final moments of their life. Each one is already dead.

At first Jack believes someone is orchestrating an elaborate prank. But the callers know things nobody outside the studio should know. They begin mentioning one another. They describe places connected to Jack’s past. And with every call, they seem to be getting closer to the station.

What begins as the most disturbing broadcast of Jack’s career becomes a countdown to something waiting at the end of the phone line.

As the city sleeps, Jack must unravel why the dead have chosen his show, what connects their deaths, and why every message appears to be leading toward him.

Dead Air is a contained supernatural horror film built around isolation, live radio, voices from beyond the grave, and the primal fear of answering a call you should never have received.
